There has been a common question among those moving toward Google Docs and cloud-base document management. Do these online document tools provide all the features of our desktop tools? Since Isos Technology started our Google Apps services our answer has been... almost. This question specifically came up when discussing Google Spreadsheets vs. MS Excel. To that question, typically the response would be that Google Spreadsheets will provide all the features and functionality Excel for 90% of the Excel user base. But, if you're a power user, you find yourself still using Excel to muscle out those spreadsheet masterpiece.

Well, that may no longer be the case. Google has now introduced the long time covenanted pivot table.



Create a pivot table by selecting the data you want to analyze and then choosing 'Pivot Table Report' from the 'Data' drop down menu. The fields you set in the report editor for rows, columns, and values can be dragged around the editor. You can also summarize data in the values section using built in formulas.

Note: Spreadsheets does not currently support pivot tables imported from Microsoft Excel
